Ventura Warrant Removal Attorney

Counsel from a Knowledgeable Criminal Defense Lawyer

Warrants are issued when an individual is ordered to appear before a court. If you discover that a bench or arrest warrant has been issued for you, it means that law enforcement is currently looking for you. This can be a risky situation, as if the court believes you are intentionally avoiding appearing before them then you could face serious penalties.

You may not know why the warrant has been issued or believe the warrant is unjustified. In either case, our warrant removal lawyer in Ventura can help. We can contact the courts on your behalf and make sure they know you are cooperating. We can also see if there is any possibility to have your warrant removed in favor of an alternative solution.

Call (805) 210-8555 or contact us online to schedule a free consultation in person or by phone at the Law Offices of Scott Bentley.

What Does a Warrant Mean?

It is unlikely that you will be notified of a warrant. Most people either suspect there is a warrant issued for them after missing a mandatory court appearance or learn of it secondhand from family or friends.

There are many different types of warrants which are issued for different reasons:

  • Bench warrant – When someone violates a court order or their probation. If picked up on this warrant, you could be held in jail until the court is ready to hold a hearing for your case.
  • Arrest warrant – If law enforcement believes they have enough evidence to arrest you for a crime, they will issue an arrest warrant. When picked up, you will go through the arrest process. If you learn of an arrest warrant issued for you, it is highly recommended you speak with an attorney as soon as possible.
  • Felony warrant – These warrants are issued if law enforcement believes you are the culprit for a felony offense. You will likely be a high priority find for law enforcement if one of these warrants has been issued for you.

If a warrant has been issued for you, it means the courts already believe you are guilty of some wrongdoing. That does not mean, however, that you are guilty of whatever they are accusing you of. If you manage to learn of a warrant before you are arrested, contact our Ventura criminal defense lawyer to discuss your options. We can intervene with law enforcement on your behalf.
